Smore school
July 22, 2009This past weekend I took my kids camping with the neighbors on either side of us. It had been over 10 years since I’d spent the night in the great outdoors and the last time, I’d sworn off all things camping. This was a much different experience. We had a fantastic time!
Undeniably the best thing about camping is making smores. While we were camping, I was instructing the neighbor’s boys on how to take all the steps to make a perfect campside smore. Alex dubbed the session, “Smore School.” I love that!

Total perfection. Yummm. Am I making you want some smores right about now? Well, I have a solution for you. They are called Smore Puffs.
Take 8 Ritz crackers and top them with either one hershey’s kiss or 4 chocolate chips stacked like a kiss. Cut four large marshmallows in half and put the sticky side down on top of the chips. Place in your toaster oven at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. In the end, you’ll have this.

Gooey deliciousness. And if you can stand to let them cool, put them on waxed paper. They are still fantastic after they’ve cooled to room temperature. Make some up and stick them in your kids’ lunch boxes this fall.
Congratulations. You’ve just been to Smore School!
